William Morris Hunt (1824–79) was an American painter who also worked as a lithographer and sculptor. He was the brother of the architect Richard Morris Hunt.

Born in Brattleboro, Vermont, Hunt spent three years at Harvard, then went to Europe and studied painting in Düsseldorf and Paris, where he became a close friend and admirer of Jean-François Millet. He was also influenced by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and other French landscape painters of the Barbizon school, whose work he introduced to America.

Hunt returned to America in 1856 and established himself in Boston. He soon gained a reputation for his portraits and landscape paintings. He was one of the earliest American masters to welcome female students into his classes.

After a period focused on figure pieces and portraits, Hunt committed himself primarily to landscapes in his later years. His best-known paintings are Girl at a Fountain, The Bathers, a portrait of Chief Justice Lemuel Shaw, and The Flight of Night.
