Inspirational Quotes by Roderick Thorp (American Novelist)

Roderick Thorp (1936–99,) fully Roderick Mayne Thorp, Jr., was an American novelist specializing in detective novels and later police procedural-crime novels.

Born in Bronx, New York City, Thorp graduated from City College in New York. He worked at a detective agency owned by his father, held odd jobs, and later taught literature and lecture on creative writing at schools and universities in New Jersey and California. He also wrote articles for newspapers and magazines.

Thorp’s second novel, The Detective (1966,) was adapted into a film in 1968. His bestselling sequel Nothing Lasts Forever (1979) was the basis for the film Die Hard (1988.) Two other Thorp novels, Rainbow Drive (1986) and Devlin (1988,) were adapted into TV movies.

Thorp’s River (1995) is a chilling fictionalization of the notorious Green River serial killings of the 1980s, in which over 50 prostitutes, drifters, and other women in the Pacific Northwest were gruesomely murdered.
