Inspirational Quotes by Carl Reiner (American Comedian)

Carl Reiner (1922–2020,) fully Carlton Reiner, was an American comedian, actor, director, screenwriter, and publisher whose career spanned seven decades.

Born in the Bronx, New York City, Reiner served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, eventually achieving corporal rank by the end of the war.

During the early years of television comedy 1950–57, he co-wrote and acted on Caesar’s Hour and Your Show of Shows, starring Sid Caesar. In the 1960s, Reiner was best known as the creator, producer, writer, and actor on The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Reiner formed a comedy duo with Mel Brooks in “2000 Year Old Man” and acted in films such as It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963,) The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming (1966,) and The Ocean’s film series (2001–07.) He co-wrote and directed some of Steve Martin’s first and most successful films, including The Jerk (1979,) and directed comedies such as Where’s Poppa? (1970,) Oh, God! (1977,) and All of Me (1984.)

Reiner appeared in dozens of television specials 1967–2000 and was a guest star on television series from the 1950s until his death. He also voiced characters in film and animated films and was a reader for books on tape.

Reiner won nine Emmy Awards, including five for The Dick Van Dyke Show, Variety Notes, and he also won a Grammy with his frequent collaborator Mel Brooks for Best Spoken Comedy Album in 1999.

Reiner wrote more than two dozen books, including the memoir My Anecdotal Life (2014) and Keep Moving: And Other Tips and Truths About Aging (2015.)
