Terry Cole-Whittaker (1939–2024) was an American New Thought minister, bestselling author, and influential spiritual teacher known for her dynamic television ministry and prosperity-focused teachings. Rising to national prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, she founded Terry Cole-Whittaker Ministries and later Adventures in Enlightenment, becoming one of the most visible figures in the Religious Science movement.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Cole-Whittaker attended college, where she was elected freshman class president and homecoming queen, before briefly pursuing a career in opera with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. Her early professional life included motivational speaking through her company Success Plus and participation in pageants, becoming Mrs. California in 1968 and placing third in the Mrs. America competition. She later earned ordination in the United Church of Religious Science and built a thriving ministry, including her Emmy-winning international television program With Love, Rev. Terry, which aired on hundreds of stations and reached millions.
Her popular books, including What You Think of Me Is None of My Business (1979) and How to Have More in a Have-Not World (1983,) helped shape contemporary self-help and spiritual empowerment literature. Later works, such as Every Saint Has a Past, Every Sinner a Future (2002) and Live Your Bliss (2009,) continued her focus on spiritual growth and personal transformation.
