Inspirational Quotes by Laura Schlessinger (American Broadcaster)

Dr. Laura (b.1947,) fully Laura Catherine Schlessinger, is one of America’s most popular—and often controversial—talk-show hosts and self-help authors. Her therapy/advice show, a fixture on talk radio for years, was heard on nearly 200 stations across America before it moved entirely to Sirius XM Radio after a storm of protests over her repeated use of racist language during a program.

Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Schlessinger attended Stony Brook University and earned a master’s and PhD in physiology from Columbia University. She began dispensing personal advice on the radio and worked part-time as a marriage and family therapist. Her daily radio call-in show was syndicated in 1994.

Using a distinctive brand of tough love, Schlessinger frequently chastises her callers for their behaviors and promotes high ethical standards and personal accountability. At the height of her popularity, Schlessinger’s syndicated phone-in radio program attracted 8.25 million weekly listeners, notwithstanding accusations that her message is one of hate, punishment, and vengeance. For many years, she also wrote a syndicated column that ran in fifty-five newspapers all over the country.

Schlessinger has written numerous self-help books, including the Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess up Their Lives (1995,) Ten Stupid Things Men Do to Mess up Their Lives (1997,) Ten Commandments: The Significance of God’s Laws in Everyday Life (1998,) and The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands (2006.) She has also written several children’s books, including But I waaannt it (2000,) Growing Up is Hard (2001,) and I Hate My Life (2001.)
