Inspirational Quotes by Babe Ruth (American Baseball Player)

Babe Ruth (1895–1948,) byname of George Herman Ruth, Jr., was an American professional baseball player. Wildly popular for his home run hitting between 1919 and 1935, Ruth was the sport’s all-time champion and its greatest celebrity.

Playing in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 22 seasons, Ruth did much to popularize the game and draw the baseball crowds. He is one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture and is often regarded as the greatest baseball player of all time.

Born in Baltimore, Ruth was one of eight children of a saloonkeeper. He began his MLB career as an outstanding left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox 1914–19, but achieved his greatest fame as a slugging outfielder for the New York Yankees 1920–34. Ruth led the Yankees to seven championships, including four World Series titles. He also played for the Boston Braves in 1935.

Nicknamed “The Bambino” and “The Sulṭān of Swat,” Ruth was a difficult player to manage because of his gambling, drinking, womanizing, and his propensity to clash with players and officials.
