Inspirational Quotes by Blake Edwards (American Filmmaker)

Blake Edwards (1922–2010,) originally William Blake Crump, was an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. One of Hollywood’s most successful specialists in comedy, he is best known for the classic romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) and the comedy The Pink Panther (1963) and its sequels. Edwards was the husband of the entertainer Julie Andrews.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Edwards began his career in the 1940s as an actor, appearing in movies such as A Guy Named Joe (1943,) Thirty Seconds over Tokyo (1944,) and The Best Years of Our Lives (1946.) He soon began writing screenplays and radio scripts before turning to produce and direct television shows and films.

Edwards’s best-known films include Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961,) Days of Wine and Roses (1961,) 10 (1979,) Victor/Victoria (1982,) and the successful Pink Panther film series with British actor Peter Sellers. As primarily a director of comedies, Edwards also directed several dramas, musicals, and detective films. Late in his career, he transitioned to writing, producing, and directing for the theater.

In 2004, Edwards won an honorary award for lifetime achievement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
