Inspirational Quotes by Ellery Queen (American Crime Fiction Authors)

Ellery Queen (1929–71) was an American double act of detective writers. These cousins were coauthors of more than 35 novels featuring a detective, also named Ellery Queen.

Ellery Queen was the pseudonym of the cousins Frederic Dannay (1905–82) and Manfred Lee (1905–71.) Their original names were Daniel Nathan and Manford Lepofsky, respectively. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Dannay and Lee entered a detective-story competition and won with The Roman Hat Mystery (1929.) Subsequently, they concentrated on detective fiction, using Ellery Queen as a pseudonym and their detective’s name.

Among Ellery Queen’s popular stories are The Greek Coffin Mystery (1932,) The Tragedy of X (1940,) and Double, Double (1950.) They also wrote under the pseudonym Barnaby Ross, featuring the detective Drury Lane. In 1941, they founded Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. They also edited numerous anthologies, including Among Ellery Queen’s popular stories are The Greek Coffin Mystery
