Inspirational Quotes by Judy Blume (American Author)

Judy Blume (b.1938,) fully Judith Sussman Blume, was an American author of mostly fiction for young adults. Her two dozen books of outspoken and first-person narratives of her audience’s concerns have sold more than 80 million copies. Her works often were banned because of disapproval of their theme and language.

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Blume was educated at New York University. Her first published book was The One in the Middle is the Green Kangaroo (1969.) Her third book, Are You There, God It’s Me, Margaret (1970,) brought praise for her candid approach to the onset of puberty and her natural, if unsubtle, style. As with her following books, attempts were made to restrict its circulation. Her explicitness brought her into conflict with parents, but she has a remarkable rapport with her readers and confronts subjects previously ignored.

Blume’s other books include Then Again, Maybe I Won’t (1971,) It’s not the End of the World (1972,) Deenie (1973,) Blubber (1974,) Forever (1975,) Superfudge (1980,) Here’s to You, Rachel Robinson (1993,) and Going, Going, Gone! With the Pain and the Great One (2008.) Her works for adults include Wifey (1978) and Summer Sisters (1998.)
