Inspirational Quotes by Frank A. Vanderlip (American Banker)

Frank Arthur Vanderlip Sr. (1864–1937) was an American banker and journalist. He was president of the National City Bank of New York 1909–19.

Born in Aurora, Illinois, Vanderlip worked as a journalist, later becoming the Chicago Tribune’s financial editor. As Assistant Secretary of the Treasury 1897–1901, Vanderlip helped establish the Federal Reserve System.

At the National City Bank of New York (now Citibank) 1909–19, Vanderlip led its growth into the largest bank in the United States and helped American businesses grow abroad. Vanderlip also helped found the first Montessori school in America and the group of communities in Palos Verdes, California. His correspondence and business papers are stored at Columbia University.
