Inspirational Quotes by Robert Jordan (American Novelist)

Robert Jordan (1948–2007,) originally James Oliver Rigney Jr., was an American author best known for his epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, comprising 14 books and a prequel novel. The series sold some 30 million copies and has been translated into 24 languages.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Jordan attended Clemson University after high school but dropped out after one year, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War as a U.S. Army helicopter gunner. After returning in 1970, he obtained a B.S. degree in physics at the Citadel, South Carolina’s military college (1974,) and worked for the U.S. Navy as a nuclear engineer.

Jordan published his first novel, Conan the Destroyer (1984,) under the pseudonym Reagan O’Neal. However, his most enduring legacy is The Wheel of Time series, which debuted with The Eye of the World (1990.) This expansive series, consisting of fourteen novels, became one of the most beloved and influential works in the fantasy genre.

Other popular works in the series include The Dragon Reborn (1991,) The Shadow Rising (1992,) and The Fires of Heaven (1993.) After Jordan’s tragic death, Brandon Sanderson completed the final three volumes of The Wheel of Time series with Jordan’s extensive notes.
