Inspirational Quotes by Loretta Young (American Actress)

Loretta Young (1913–2000,) formerly Gretchen Michaela Young, was an American motion picture actress whose acting career extended from silent cinema to Hollywood’s golden era.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Young grew up in Los Angeles. She was noted for her ethereal beauty and refined, controlled portrayals of virtuous and wholesome women. She had her first screen role at the age of four in The Only Way (1917) as a weeping child on an operating table.

Young’s first movie was The Magnificent Flirt (1928.) She appeared in 15 films between 1929 and 1930—including Broken Dishes. When she signed to Fox Studios in the mid-1930s, Young became one of the era’s leading women. Her performance in The Farmer’s Daughter (1947) won her a Best Actress Academy Award. She also played with David Niven and Cary Grant in The Bishop’s Wife (1947)—a cornerstone of Christmas television schedules in America.

Young switched to television with the variety show Letters to Loretta (1953–61; later The Loretta Young Show😉 it earned her three Emmy Awards.

Young’s autobiography is The Things I Had to Learn (1961.)
