Inspirational Quotes by Mary Pettibone Poole ((fl.1938) American Aphorist)

Mary Pettibone Poole (fl.1938) was an American aphorist who compiled the book of epigrams A Glass Eye at a Keyhole (1938.)

Poole asserted that she devised her sayings during her experimentation with hallucinogenic substances. However, many of the epigrams were already in circulation at the time of her book’s publication.

The USSR banned A Glass Eye at a Keyhole in the 1940s for the reason that it encouraged religious and sexual freedoms, which were incongruous with socialism.
