Inspirational Quotes by Hector Bianciotti (French Novelist)

Hector Bianciotti (1930–2012,) born Héctor Bianciotti, was an Argentine-born French author and member of the Académie française.

Born Héctor Bianciotti in Calchin Oeste in Córdoba Province, Argentina, Bianciotti’s parents were immigrants from Piedmont, Italy, who communicated among themselves in the dialect of that region but who forbade its use with their son. Instead, they spoke Spanish to him. Bianciotti began his study of French in 1945. He arrived in France in 1961 and completed his French naturalization in 1981.

Bianciotti worked with the prestigious publishing house Gallimard, wrote for the La Quinzaine littéraire, and the Nouvel Observateur and later as a literary critic for Le Monde.

Bianciotti first wrote in his mother tounge, Spanish. His four novels, a play, and a collection of short stories were translated into French by Françoise Rosset.

Bianciotti’s first novel in French, Sans la miséricorde du Christ (1985; Without Christ’s Mercy,) won him the Prix Femina literary prize in 1985. He also was granted the Officer of the Légion d’ honneu title.

Bianciotti also published around 13 including Les Déserts dorés (1967,) Celle qui voyage la nuit (1969,) Seules les larmes seront comptées. (1988,) and La nostalgie de la maison de Dieu (2003.)
