Alfred Armand Montapert (1906–97) was an American engineer, philosopher, and author.

Born in Norwich, Connecticut, Montapert studied electrical engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. He became an electrical troubleshooter on elevators and, at age 21, started his elevator business Elevator Maintenance Co. and remained it’s president 1927–57. Montapert served in the U.S. Army and the Corps of Engineers 1937–41. He was also a member of the City of Los Angeles Civil Service Commission, 1944–52.

Montapert wrote books on self-help and practical philosophy in his distinctive punchy writing style. His works include Distilled Wisdom (1964,) Supreme Philosophy of Man (1970,) Inspiration and Motivation (1982,) and Words of Wisdom to Live By: An Encyclopedia of Wisdom (1985.)
