Inspirational Quotes by Douglas Hugh Everett (British Physical Chemist)

Douglas Hugh Everett (1916–2002,) also D. H. Everett, was a British physical chemist and academic author. His most pertinent contributions to science were in the field of thermodynamics.

Born in Hampton, London, Everett studied chemistry first at the University of Reading. He completed postgraduate studies at Oxford’s Balliol College, earning a PhD in 1942.

During World War II, Everett served as a unique scientific duties official at the War Office. He taught at Exeter College 1947–48 before becoming a professor in Chemistry at College, St Andrews University 1948–54. From 1954 he settled in Bristol first as Professor of Chemistry at Bristol University, then Dean of the Faculty of Science (1966–68) and Pro-Vice-Chancellor.

Everett’s works include The Structure and Properties of Porous Materials (1958,) The Solid Gas Interface (1967,) Introduction to the Study of Chemical Thermodynamics (1972,) and Basic Principles of Colloid Science (1988.)
