Reverend Vernon Luchies (1926–2012) was a cleric who served many Christian Reformed churches in Canada and the United States.
Born in Fremont, Michigan, Luchies grew up on a nearby farm. Through eighth grade, he walked a mile-and-a-half to the one-room Tyndale School. During his teenage, he did farm work and painted barns. He skipped high school and found college a daunting challenge. He eventually graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in 1958.
Vernon was renowned for his exceptional vocal talent. He often sang hymn lines as he preached. He retired in 1989 and died of colon cancer in 2012.
