Inspirational Quotes by Paul Newman (American Actor, Philanthropist)

Paul Newman (1925–2008) was an American movie actor, director, and producer. He was also a professional racecar driver, a philanthropist, and an outspoken advocate of various liberal causes.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Newman turned to act after World War II, in which he served with the navy air corps. After spending some time at Kenyon College, Ohio, studying economics, he moved on to the Yale Drama School and the New York Actors’ Studio. In 1953, he made his successful Broadway début in Picnic, and two years later, he made his first film, The Silver Chalice (1955.)

Newman’s notable movies include The Long Hot Summer (1958,) Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958,) The Hustler (1961,) Hud (1963,) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969,) The Sting (1973,) The Color of Money (1986,) and Message in a Bottle (1999.)

Newman was also known for his philanthropic initiatives. His company Newman’s Own, produces pasta, salad dressings, and other food that is based on his home recipes and devotes the company’s entire profits to causes throughout the world. He is reputed to have donated more money—for his wealth—than any other American during the 20th century has.
