Inspirational Quotes by Lou Brock (American Baseball Player)

Lou Brock (1939–2020,) fully Louis Clark Brock, was an American professional baseball player. This legendary base stealer was a Hall of Famer (1985.)

Born to a family of sharecroppers, El Dorado, Arkansas, Brock attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and played college baseball. His team won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ baseball championship during his junior year, and Brock joined the United States baseball team in the 1959 Pan American Games. He signed with the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent in 1960.

Brock played for the Chicago Cubs 1961–64 and the St. Louis Cardinals 1964–79. His 938 stolen bases set a record that held until 1991 when Rickey Henderson broke it. After retiring from baseball, Brock prospered as an entrepreneur in St. Louis, Missouri.
