Inspirational Quotes by Claudette Colbert (American Actress)

Claudette Colbert (1903–96,) born Émilie Claudette Chauchoin, was an American actress on stage, motion picture, television, and radio who made 62 films, played sirens, comic roles, and severe dramatic parts.

Born in Saint-Mandé, a suburb of Paris, during the Third Republic, Colbert moved with her family to New York City in 1910. She began her career on Broadway during the late 1920s and progressed to motion pictures with talking pictures. Her film début was in Frank Capra’s For the Love of Mike (1927.)

Colbert was known for her characteristic bangs, soft purring voice, self-assured flair, and graceful acting. She initially associated with Paramount Pictures but progressively became a freelance actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in It Happened One Night (1934) and received two other Academy Award nominations. Her other notable films include Cleopatra (1934) and The Palm Beach Story (1942.) Her role in the television miniseries The Two Mrs. Grenvilles (1987) won a best-supporting actress Golden Globe.
