Inspirational Quotes by Tina Brown (British-American Journalist, Editor)

Tina Brown (b.1953,) fully Christina Hambley Brown, is a British-American journalist, magazine editor, columnist, and talk-show host. She is recognized for revitalizing the sales of such publications as Vanity Fair and The New Yorker and for editing The Daily Beast, a newsmagazine. Brown is also the author of The Diana Chronicles (2007,) a biography of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and educated at Oxford, Brown began her career in 1978 as a columnist for Punch magazine, won the 1978 Young Journalist of the Year award, and became editor-in-chief of Tatler magazine in 1979. She married the English journalist and The Sunday Times editor Harold Evans in 1981.

Brown left Tatler in 1983 and immigrated with Evans to New York City, where she became editor-in-chief of Conde Nast’s Vanity Fair magazine in 1984. From 1992–98, she was the fourth editor of The New Yorker, traditionally a publisher of the best of U.S. writing. Brown executed changes that brought criticism and approval, enlivening the magazine through more color and expanded focus on current events, and improving its circulation by over 25 percent.

In 1998, Brown founded Talk magazine, a glossy monthly that failed to become the foundation of a modern-day media empire as she had envisioned. She hosted the CNBC talk show A Topic with Tina Brown 2003–05. Her books include the play Under the Bamboo Tree (1973,) Loose Talk: Adventures on the Street of Shame (1979,) and Life as A Party (1983.) The Vanity Fair Diaries: 1983–92 appeared in 2017.
