Inspirational Quotes by Edgar Cayce (American Faith Healer)

Edgar Cayce (1877–1945) was an American self-proclaimed spiritual healer, psychic, and teacher. An influential figure during the mid-to-late twentieth century, he sparked interest in psychic phenomena and the New Age movement.

Born near Beverly, Kentucky, Cayce was a Sunday-school teacher with little formal education. He began faith-healing in the 1920s, combining spiritual readings and homeopathic medicine.

Cayce was celebrated for his trance readings, diagnosing illnesses, and proposing unorthodox-but-supposedly efficacious treatments. In 1925 he settled in Virginia Beach and founded a hospital (1928) and the Association for Research and Enlightenment (1931.)

Cayce became well-known after a best-selling biography by Thomas Sugrue, There Is a River (1942.) Cayce’s life and work were the subjects of many other publications, such as Harmon Hartzell Bro’s A Seer out of Season: The Life of Edgar Cayce (1989) and Sidney D. Kirkpatrick’s Edgar Cayce: An American Prophet (2000.)
