Inspirational Quotes by Ruth Stafford Peale (American Self-Help Author)

Ruth Stafford Peale (1906–2008,) born Loretta Ruth Stafford, was an American writer, editor, and speaker. She was the wife of Norman Vincent Peale, author of the pioneering self-help book The Power of Positive Thinking (1952.)

Born in Fonda, Iowa, Peale studied math and philosophy at Syracuse University and taught high school mathematics. Together with her husband, Peale co-founded the Guideposts publishing organization in 1945, and she served as its chairperson 1992–2003. She was the first woman to be president of the National Board of North American Missions of the Reformed Church in America.

Peale wrote The Adventure of Being a Wife (1971; Secrets of Staying in Love, 1984,) offering advice for married women based on her and her husband’s philosophy of positive thinking.
