George Magoffin Humphrey (1890–1970) was an American lawyer, businessman, and banker. He served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury for President Dwight D. Eisenhower 1953–57.

Born in Cheboygan, Michigan, Humphrey received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan. He practiced law in Saginaw, Michigan, for five years at his father’s firm before becoming a general attorney with steel manufacturer M. A. Hanna Company in 1917. He rose through the ranks and became the company’s president in 1929.

Humphrey dramatically extended and diversified M. A. Hanna’s production through several successful mergers and acquisitions. By the end of his tenure, the company had assets of more than $120 million, three-quarters of which were invested in steel, rayon, copper, coal, natural gas, plastics, and two Cleveland-based banks.

After World War II, Humphrey led the Reparations Survey Committee advising the Allies on dismantling German industry. He served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Eisenhower, returned to the M. A. Hanna Company as honorary board chairman, and later became chairman of National Steel Corporation.
