Gordie Howe (1928–2016,) fully name Gordon Howe, was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A prolific scorer, he played for the Omaha Knights 1945–46, the Detroit Red Wings 1946–71, the Houston Aeros 1973–77, and the New England Whalers 1977–80.

Born in Floral, Saskatchewan, Howe set records for scoring the most goals (801) and most points (1,850,) and playing the most seasons (26) and most games (1,767) in the National Hockey League (NHL.) He led the Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cup championships (1950, 1952, 1954, and 1955.) He was a six-time winner of the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player (1952–53, 1957–58, 1960, and 1963.)
