He raced professionally and set many records from 1979 until his fatal accident during the 2001 Daytona 500. Dale Earnhardt Jr. His son Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr. (b.1974,) known professionally as Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Dale Jr., was also a successful professional stock car racing driver and is currently a team owner, and an analyst for NASCAR on NBC.
