Inspirational Quotes by Irving Kahn (American Investor)

Irving Kahn (1905–2015) was an American investor and philanthropist. An early disciple of the American economist Benjamin Graham, Kahn began his career in 1928 and continued to work until his death.

Born in New York City, Kahn attended the City College of New York. He served as a teaching assistant to Benjamin Graham at Columbia Business School, where Warren Buffett was a contemporary.

Kahn was a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and among the first applicants to take the CFA exam. Over an extensive career as an investor, he served as a director of Teleregister, Grand Union Stores, Kings County Lighting, West Chemical, and Willcox & Gibbs. In addition, he was chairman of Kahn Brothers Group, Inc., the privately-owned investment advisory and broker-dealer firm that he founded with his sons, Thomas and Alan, in 1978.

Kahn and his siblings—two sisters and a brother—all lived beyond 100. Thus, they were collectively the world’s oldest living quartet of siblings.
