Inspirational Quotes by Stephenie Meyer (American Novelist)

Stephenie Meyer (b.1973,) née Morgan, is an American novelist. She is best known for the popular Twilight Saga, a series of vampire-themed novels for young adults featuring the romance between teenaged human Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen. The series has helped transform dark fantasy and horror from a genre that boasted a small cult following into a mainstream genre staple.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Meyer grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. She received a B.A. in English literature from Brigham Young University. She married in 1994, and, after graduation, worked as a homemaker, caring for her three sons.

Meyer’s meteoric rise to the top of the young-adult literature world began with a dream about an average teenage girl and a beautiful male vampire, sitting in a meadow, lost in conversation about their relationship’s difficulties. Meyer wanted to remember the story and wrote it down. That story became the first book, Twilight (2005; film 2008.) It was followed by New Moon (2006; film 2009,) Eclipse (2007; film 2010,) and Breaking Dawn (2008; films 2011, 2012.)

Meyer, a Mormon, kept her writing consistent with her faith and eschewed sexual explicitness—this ensured the series’ popularity with parents. The series has been criticized for a negative representation of female sexuality and its portrayal of a domineering male as an ideal partner. Nonetheless, Twilight sold over 100 million copies, with translations into 37 different languages. Meyer was the bestselling author of 2008 and 2009 in the U.S., having sold over 29 million books in 2008 and 27 million in 2009.

Twilight inspired another colossally successful series: British author E. L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy (2011–12) began as a Twilight fan fiction.

Meyer also wrote the science fiction romance novel The Host (2008; film 2013.)
