Inspirational Quotes by C. A. Dykstra (American Government Administrator)

Dr. Clarence Addison Dykstra (1883–1950) was an American government administrator.

Dykstra earned degrees from Iowa State University and University of Chicago before teaching the University of Chicago, University of Kansas, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He then became the first City Manager in America when he served that role in Cincinnati, Ohio.

During his long career in public service, Dykstra served in prominent leadership roles at the city government of Los Angeles, and the University of Wisconsin and the University of California, Los Angeles.

He also served as Director of Selective Service System, the U.S. government agency that maintains information on those potentially subject to military conscription.

During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed him chair of the Defense Mediation Board to settle wartime labor disputes.
