Phil Linz (1939–2020,) fully Philip Francis Linz, was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees (1962–65,) Philadelphia Phillies (1966–67,) and New York Mets (1967–68.)
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Linz was signed by the Yankee organization out of high school and débuted with the team in 1962. Linz is also remembered for the infamous “Harmonica Incident” altercation with his manager, Yogi Berra. The Yankees’ owners fired Berra after the season, concluding he had lost authority over the team.
