Inspirational Quotes by G. Gordon Liddy (American Lawyer)

G Gordon Liddy (1930–2021,) fully George Gordon Battle Liddy, was an American lawyer and political operative. This mastermind of the Watergate burglary later went to prison and became a popular radio talk show host.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Liddy graduated from Fordham University (1952) and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After graduating from Fordham University School of Law (1957,) he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under J. Edgar Hoover.

Liddy gained notoriety as the Richard Nixon associate who organized the Watergate break-in to place wiretaps on the telephones of the Democratic Party’s campaign headquarters. Liddy later refused to testify at the congressional hearings on the matter. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison but had his sentence commuted and ultimately served only 52 months. Liddy then became an actor, specializing in playing villains, and hosted a syndicated right-wing radio talk show, The G. Gordon Liddy Show.

Liddy’s autobiography is Will (1980;) it sold over a million copies and was made into a television movie. He also wrote the nonfiction books When I Was a Kid, This Was a Free Country (2002,) and Fight Back! Tackling Terrorism, Liddy Style (2006,) and the novels Out of Control (1979) and The Monkey Handlers (1990.)
