Inspirational Quotes by Ken Hakuta (American Inventor)

Ken Paik Hakuta (b.1950,) known as “Dr. Fad” since 1983, is a Korean-born American inventor, entrepreneur, and television personality.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Hakuta attended Georgetown University and got an MBA from Harvard.

Hakuta gained fame after introducing the Japanese toy Wacky WallWalker to the U.S. in 1985. A small, sticky, octopus-shaped toy made of rubber that, when thrown at a wall or window, wriggles and walks to the floor, it became one of the best-selling fad toys of all time. It was chosen to be in the Pop Culture Collection at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.

Hakuta’s wealth from the success of the Wallwalker bankrolled his other “fad” projects, including a hotline for would-be entrepreneurs, a trade show for fad inventors, a consulting business, a collectible furniture business, and an herbal remedies e-commerce website.

Hakuta’s Emmy-nominated syndicated television show Dr. Fad Show (1987—93) showcased kids’ inventions and promoted creativity and inventiveness in children. He is the author of How to Create Your Own Fad and Make a Million Dollars (1988)
