Inspirational Quotes by Sylvester Stallone (American Actor)

Sylvester Stallone (b.1946,) fully Sylvester Enzio Stallone, nickname Sly, is an American actor, screenwriter, director, and producer. His enduring characters remain boxer Rocky Balboa and Vietnam-veteran John Rambo; he appeared in each role in a different, hugely successful film series.

Born in New York City, the son of Italian immigrants, Stallone became interested in acting while attending the American College of Switzerland. He returned to the United States to attend the University of Miami. He worked as a pizza demonstrator, swept zoo cages, and worked as an usher in New York while trying to get acting parts. His first notable role was in The Lords of Flatbush (1974.)

Inspired by a match between Muhammad Ali and a relatively obscure boxer named Chuck Wepner, Stallone penned the script for Rocky (1976) and won stardom playing the title role. He directed his first film, Paradise Alley (1978.) He has since written and starred in four more Rocky movies (1976, 1979, 1982, 1985, 1990) and three Rambo movies (1982, 1985, 1988.) He also directed Rocky II, Rocky III, and Rocky IV. After enjoying monumental success on the back of the 1980s’ popularity for super-muscular heroes, his later films include Cliff Hanger (1992,) The Specialist (1994,) and Cop Land (1997.)

In 1991 Stallone became an investor in the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain with actors Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and others.

Biographies include Marsha Daly’s Sylvester Stallone: An Illustrated Life (1984) and Jeff Rovin’s Stallone! A Hero’s Story (1985.)
