James Andrew Champy (b.1942) is an American business consultant and organizational theorist, renowned for his groundbreaking contributions in the fields of business process reengineering, business process improvement, and organizational change.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Champy completed his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1963 and went on to earn his M.S. in the same field in 1965, both from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later, in 1968, he achieved a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School.

Champy served as a management consultant and as a member of the board of directors of many American companies. He also held the position of Senior Research Fellow at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative (2011–15.) Notable works include Reengineering The Corporation: Manifesto for Business Revolution (1993; 2009,) Reengineering Management (1995,) and X-engineering The Corporation (2002.)
