Dorothea Kent (1916–90,) born Dorothea Jane Schaeffer, was an American film actress known for her comedic and supporting roles during Hollywood’s Golden Age. She appeared in over 40 films between 1935 and 1948, often portraying dizzy blondes and witty sidekicks.

Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Kent began as a model before transitioning to film. She signed with Columbia Pictures, later working with Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox. Her early roles included shorts such as Horses’ Collars (1935) and Hayseed Romance (1935) alongside The Three Stooges.

Kent gained recognition in feature films, including August Weekend (1936,) More Than a Secretary (1936,) Carnival Queen (1937,) Some Blondes Are Dangerous (1937,) Million Dollar Legs (1939,) They Drive by Night (1940,) and It Started with Eve (1941.) She continued in supporting roles with Stage Door Canteen (1943,) Pin Up Girl (1944,) and It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947.)

Her final credited role was The Missing Lady (1946,) though she made an uncredited appearance in The Babe Ruth Story (1948.)
