Winona Ryder (b.1971,) fully Winona Laura Horowitz, is an American actress known for her versatility in film and television. She rose to prominence in the late 1980s and 1990s, starring in cult classics and critically acclaimed dramas.
Born in Winona, Minnesota, and raised in California, she developed an early interest in acting. She débuted in Lucas (1986,) followed by her breakout role in Beetlejuice (1988.) She became a teen icon with Heathers (1989) and later starred in Edward Scissorhands (1990,) Mermaids (1990,) and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992.)
Ryder earned two Academy Award nominations for The Age of Innocence (1993) and Little Women (1994.) Her career continued with Reality Bites (1994,) The Crucible (1996,) Alien Resurrection (1997,) and Girl, Interrupted (1999.)
