Inspirational Quotes by Siobhan Davies (British Choreographer)

Dame Siobhan Davies (b.1950,) born Susan Davies, is a British choreographer and dancer known for her contributions to contemporary dance and pioneering work in site-specific choreography. Her innovative movement explorations and interdisciplinary collaborations have shaped British dance.

Born in London, Davies initially studied art and design before transitioning to dance. She was among the first students at the London School of Contemporary Dance (1967) and later became a leading choreographer for London Contemporary Dance Theatre. Her early works, including Sphinx (1977,) established her in British contemporary dance.

In 1988, Davies founded Siobhan Davies Dance, a company dedicated to experimental choreography and interdisciplinary projects. Her works, such as White Man Sleeps (1988) and Wyoming (1990,) were included in the dance GCE A-Level syllabus, influencing UK dance education.

In the 2000s, Davies shifted to site-specific and gallery-based choreography, creating Bird Song (2004) and Manual (2013.) She also collaborated on film projects, including All This Can Happen (2012) and The Running Tongue (2015.)
