Inspirational Quotes by Art Buchwald (American Humorist, Satirist)

Arthur Buchwald (1925–2007) was an American humorist and columnist known for his sharp political satire and witty social commentary. His syndicated column in The Washington Post ran for decades, appearing in over 500 newspapers worldwide.

Born in Mount Vernon, New York, Buchwald had a difficult childhood, spending time in foster care. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II before enrolling at the University of Southern California. In 1948, he moved to Paris, writing a nightlife column for the Paris Herald Tribune, later expanding into humor and political satire.

Returning to the U.S. in 1961, Buchwald became one of American journalism’s leading satirical voices, skewering politicians, celebrities, and cultural trends with humor and insight. He won the Pulitzer for Outstanding Commentary (1982.)

Buchwald authored books including I’ll Always Have Paris (1996,) a memoir of his time in France, and Too Soon to Say Goodbye (2006,) written after forgoing kidney dialysis. His column collections, such as While Reagan Slept (1983) and You Can Fool All of the People All of the Time (1985,) showcased his biting wit.
