Nicole Evangeline Lilly (b.1979) is a Canadian actress and author best known for playing Kate Austen in Lost (2004–10,) which earned her a Golden Globe nomination and multiple Saturn Award nominations. She has since starred in major film franchises.
Born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Lilly was raised in British Columbia and studied international relations at the University of British Columbia. She worked various jobs, including as a flight attendant, before being discovered by a Ford Modelling Agency agent, launching her acting career.
Lilly gained international fame with Lost, followed by roles in The Hurt Locker (2008) and Real Steel (2011.) She starred as Tauriel in The Hobbit trilogy—The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)—and as Hope van Dyne/The Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Ant-Man (2015,) Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018,) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023.) She also wrote The Squickerwonkers (2013,) a dark, whimsical children’s book series.
