Colleen Townsend Evans (b.1928) is an American actress, author, and humanitarian known for her Hollywood career and later contributions to Christian ministry and social activism.

Born in Glendale, California, Townsend began acting as a teenager, performing on television before signing with Warner Bros. (1944.) By 1947, she was under contract with 20th Century Fox, appearing in The Walls of Jericho (1948,) Chicken Every Sunday (1949,) and When Willie Comes Marching Home (1950.) Her rising fame led to a Life magazine cover story (1948,) showcasing Hollywood’s star-making process.

In 1950, Townsend left acting to marry Louis H. Evans Jr., a seminary student who later founded Bel Air Presbyterian Church. She became deeply involved in Christian ministry, writing books reflecting her faith and humanitarian work. Notable publications include Again Pioneers (1950,) Love is an Everyday Thing (1971,) Living True (1982,) A New Joy (1984,) and Bold Commitment (1996, co-written with her husband.)

Townsend starred in two Christian films produced by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association: Oiltown, U.S.A. (1950) and Souls in Conflict (1955.) She later served on the World Vision board and became the first female chair of the Billy Graham Crusade (1986.)
