Inspirational Quotes by Richard Sapir (American Writer)

Richard Ben Sapir (1936–87) was an American author known for his work in the thriller and mystery genres, often combining espionage and adventure. He co-created the popular The Destroyer series with Warren Murphy.

Born in New York City, Sapir graduated from Columbia University and worked as an editor and in public relations. In 1963, while reporting in Jersey City—where Murphy was secretary to the mayor—he co-wrote the first Destroyer novel. Featuring a Western protagonist trained in martial arts by a North Korean assassin, it remained unpublished until 1971, launching a hit series with over 30 million copies in print by the late 1990s.

Beyond The Destroyer, Sapir authored five novels: Bressio (1975,) The Far Arena (1978,) The Body (1983,) Spies (1984,) and Quest (1987,) a modern-day search for the Holy Grail. The Body, adapted into a 2001 film, follows a Jewish archaeologist who unearths a skeleton beneath an Arab shopkeeper’s basement—one that might be Jesus’ remains—prompting an investigation by a Vatican Jesuit.
