Inspirational Quotes by Zoe Fairbairns (British Novelist)

Zoë Ann Fairbairns (b.1948) is a British feminist writer known for her novels, short stories, radio plays, and political essays. Her work explores gender, social justice, and contemporary issues, making her a significant voice in feminist literature.

Born in Tonbridge, England, she studied at St Andrews University, Scotland, and the College of William and Mary, U.S. She was poetry editor for Spare Rib, a feminist publication, and collaborated with women writers on Tales I Tell My Mother (1978.)

Her notable novels include Benefits (1979,) a feminist dystopian work often compared to The Handmaid’s Tale; Stand We at Last (1983,) a historical novel from a feminist perspective; and Here Today (1984,) winner of the Fawcett Book Prize. Other works include Closing (1987,) Daddy’s Girls (1991,) and Other Names (1998.)

Fairbairns also wrote non-fiction, including Writing Women (1987,) examining women’s roles in literature, and How Do You Pronounce Nulliparous? (2000,) a short story collection.
