W. T. Purkiser (1910–92,) born Westlake Taylor Purkiser, was an American preacher, scholar, and author in the Church of the Nazarene, known for his contributions to theology, biblical studies, and Christian education. His scholarship emphasized Wesleyan-Arminian theology, addressing spiritual gifts, salvation, and holiness.

He earned a PhD from the University of Southern California and lectured in New Testament Theology at Nazarene Theological Seminary. He later served as president of Pasadena College and spent 15 years as editor of Herald of Holiness, shaping theological discourse.

Purkiser authored numerous books on holiness, biblical interpretation, and Christian doctrine, influencing generations of theologians and pastors. His works include Know Your Old Testament (1947,) Exploring the Old Testament (1955,) Beliefs That Matter Most (1959,) Exploring Our Christian Faith (1960,) and Sanctification and Its Synonyms (1961.) His later books include The Gifts of the Spirit (1975,) Called Unto Holiness: Volume 2 (1983,) and Exploring Christian Holiness (1983–85.)
