Ulysses Grant Weatherly (1865–1940) was an American sociologist who served as Professor of Sociology at Indiana University and was a founding member of the American Sociological Society.
Born in West Newton, Indiana, Weatherly earned his A.B. from Colgate University in 1890 and his PhD from Cornell University in 1894. He studied at the University of Leipzig (1893–94) and attended Columbia University (1899–1900.) In 1910, he received a Litt.D from Colgate University.
Weatherly briefly taught at Central High School in Philadelphia before joining Indiana University in 1895 as an assistant professor of European History. He was promoted to associate professor in 1896 and full professor of Economics and Sociology in 1899, serving as chair until his retirement in 1935. He also taught at various universities during summer sessions.
A founding member of the American Sociological Society in 1905, Weatherly served as its president 1923–24. His notable work includes Social Progress: Studies in the Dynamics of Social Change (1926.)
