Tom Seaver (1944–2020,) fully George Thomas Seaver, nicknamed the Tom Terrific or the Franchise, was an American baseball player. He was one of the game’s predominant pitchers between the late 1960s and early 1980s. He was named to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 and was chosen to the All-Star team 12 times.

Born in Fresno, California, Seaver was a pitcher for the New York Mets 1966–77 and 1982–83. He was the galvanizing force that drove the New York Mets from National League to a remarkable World Series title in 1969. He also pitched for the Cincinnati Reds, the Chicago White Sox, and the Boston Red Sox.
