Thomas Spencer Monson (1927–2018) was an American religious leader and the 16th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church,) serving 2008–18.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Monson was raised in a devout LDS family and demonstrated a strong commitment to his faith early on. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Canada and completed his education at the University of Utah.
