Inspirational Quotes by Thomas Powers (American Journalist)

Thomas Powers (b.1940) is an American journalist, historian, and author known for works on intelligence, national security, and historical analysis. His investigative writing earned him the Pulitzer for National Reporting (1971.)

Born in New York City, he graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in English (1964.) He began as a reporter for Rome Daily American, later working for United Press International before transitioning to freelance writing in 1970. His contributions to The New York Review of Books, The Atlantic, Harper’s, and Rolling Stone shaped discussions on history, espionage, and politics.

His books include Diana: The Making of a Terrorist (1971,) examining 1960s radicalism; The Man Who Kept the Secrets: Richard Helms and the CIA (1979,) a biography of CIA Director Richard Helms; Heisenberg’s War: The Secret History of the German Bomb (1993,) exploring nuclear physics in World War II; and The Killing of Crazy Horse (2010,) which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for History.

Other works include Intelligence Wars: American Secret History from Hitler to al-Qaeda (2002,) essays on U.S. intelligence, and The Confirmation (2000,) a political thriller.
