Thomas Head Raddall (1903–94) was a Canadian writer known for historical fiction and vivid portrayals of Nova Scotia’s past.

Born in Hythe, England, he moved to Nova Scotia with his family in 1913. His father, a military officer, was killed in World War I, shaping Raddall’s early experiences. His historical novels include His Majesty’s Yankees (1942,) set during the American Revolution, and The Governor’s Lady (1960,) exploring colonial life. Other works include Pride’s Fancy (1946) and Hangman’s Beach (1966.) His most acclaimed novel, The Nymph and the Lamp (1950,) drew from his radio operator experience.

Raddall’s nonfiction includes Halifax, Warden of the North (1948,) a city history, and his autobiography, In My Time (1976.) His final collection, The Dreamers (1986,) compiled short stories 1928–55.
