Inspirational Quotes by Swami Muktananda (Indian Yoga Guru)

Swami Muktananda (1908–82,) born Krishna Rai, was an Indian yoga guru and founder of Siddha Yoga, known for his teachings on Kundalini Shakti, Vedānta, and Kashmir Shaivism. His spiritual journey emphasized shaktipat initiation, a transformative awakening of spiritual energy.

Born in Mangalore, Karnataka, Muktananda left home as a teenager to seek enlightenment. He studied under Siddharudha Swami and later received sannyasa initiation in the Sarasvati order. His search led him to Bhagavan Nityananda, who granted him shaktipat in 1947, marking the start of his true spiritual journey.

Muktananda spent nine years in deep meditation before being recognized as a realized master. In 1956, he became head of an ashram in Ganeshpuri, near Mumbai, establishing Siddha Yoga. From 1970 to 1981, he traveled extensively, spreading his teachings and founding meditation centers worldwide.

Notable works include The Play of Consciousness (1978,) a spiritual autobiography detailing his Kundalini awakening. Other publications include Secret of the Siddhas (1972,) Does Death Exist? (1980,) and From the Finite to the Infinite (1989.)
