Stuart Briscoe (1930–2022) was an English evangelical Christian author, pastor, and teacher known for his dynamic preaching style and influential work in Christian ministry. He was a senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, United States.
Born in Millom, Cumbria, England, Briscoe began his career as a professional cricket player before answering a call to ministry. He served as the pastor of several churches in England before moving to the United States in the 1970s, where he became the senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
During his tenure at Elmbrook Church, Briscoe helped to grow the congregation into one of the largest in the country, and he became a respected teacher and author in the field of Christian ministry. He wrote more than 40 books, and his teaching was heard by millions of people around the world through radio and television broadcasts.
Briscoe was an influential voice in Christian ministry. He was widely regarded as one of his generation’s most respected and effective communicators. His works include Taking God Seriously (1986,) The Fruit of the Spirit (2000,) Flowing Streams: Journeys of a Life Well Lived (2008,) and Improving with Age (2015.)
